Evan Liu

Research Assistant

Evan Liu is a Research Assistant within the BHCHP Institute. Formerly an AmeriCorps member in the Barbara McInnis House, he spearheaded a quality improvement project to identify and address barriers to entry into substance use treatment programs. Within BHCHP's Institute, he’s continued to use data to improve, organize and systematize large projects.

Evan leads the implementation and administration of the annual patient experience survey, managing a cohort of dozens of surveyors to collect over 1,000 patient surveys across many BHCHP clinical sites. He uses results from this survey to inform quality improvement work across the program, including clinical equity work to address disparities in care.

Evan also aims to involve patients in community-based participatory research to improve research relevance, garner patient interest and foster their autonomy. He has met with patients interested in research and helped them focus their research questions and develop implementation and data collection strategies.

Outside of research, Evan has continued his efforts to increase access to substance use disorder recovery services by developing a running recovery group for patients.

Areas of interest: Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR), clinical equity, treatment programs, running recovery group, patient experience, cultural competency, survey methodology
