Susan Keyes is currently the Director of Harm Reduction Services at Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. She earned her Doctorate in Public Health in 2002 from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She has been working with people who use drugs (PWUD) for most of her career, starting as a VISTA volunteer in the State Corrections System in Connecticut. Susan has approached her work with PWUDs in many ways from volunteer work, to outreach to research. In all these positions, the goal was to improve the lives of those involved using harm reduction tools. Late in her career, she decided to pursue a bachelor’s in nursing in order to add clinical skills to her harm reduction toolbox. In order to maintain her sanity, she plays the ukulele.
